| Moss? Lichen? Whatever, a great shade of green. |

| Coeur d"Alene Waterfront in Fog |
Hopefully not foreshadowing the coast, NPR reported morning fog, burning off by noon. Turned out to be accurate.
A guest at the Roosevelt Inn recommended a 2-mile hike around a lakeside promontory that turned out to challenge a shy Eli.

| Nancy starts across with KC. Eli gulps. |
 |
| Damn, it moves. |
 |
| Mom's leaving me. What will I do? |
 |
| Maybe try one toe nail. |
 |
| OK, I'll try it nose down, legs wide, tippy toes . . . |
 |
| Over half way and the stance narrows. |

I can see the treat from here!
Love that solid ground!
Finally left Coeur d'Alene a bit after noon, 2-3 hours of interstate, then Highway 14 along the Lewis & Clark Trail on the north side of the Columbia River. Great views, looking south to the Oregon side and minimal traffic. Looking forward to a friend's recommendation of a hidden microbrewery in Maryhill, WA, we missed the turn. Just have to recover in Portland on Saturday.
Giant walking cats in harness. A frequent sight along Highway 14, these giant, upright cats appear to be walking towards/away from every Columbia River dam, courtesy of Bonneville Power Administration.
